Christmas in Melbourne

Come with me on a Christmas Adventure!

Friday 27 November was the launch of the annual Melbourne Town Hall Christmas Light Projections so my beautiful Christmas Spirit soul sister and I decided it would be the perfect opportunity for a Christmas Adventure around Melbourne.

Our night started with a screening of Love the Coopers at Hoyts, Melbourne Central. It stars John Goodman and Dianne Keaton and has just enough Christmas in it to make you feel all fuzzy inside.

We then trundled our way through Melbourne Central to get to Bourke Street Mall and lined up to view the Myer Christmas Windows (note: afore link has a ton of spoiler pics so don't click if you want to keep the windows a surprise). The theme for 2015 is based around the book 'Little Dog and the Christmas Wish' and is set in Melbourne. This year the windows are SPECTACULAR! They are well worth the wait in line, I still can't get over the detail of each scene. I'll only post a few photos so as not to spoil it for anyone who is planning to make the journey for a viewing.

Whilst the Myer Christmas Windows really are the main attraction at Bourke Street Mall during the holidays don't forget to take a peek at the David Jones windows too. As expected they are opulent and filled with luxuries that most of us only dream of. The theme for David Jones this year is the mindful colouring trend that has been hot for 2015.

As expected for Melbourne it was quite a chilly night, perfect for drinking Gingerbread Lattes and watching Melbourne Town Hall come alive with light.

I have found that living away from family at this time of year is especially difficult but sharing little traditions like this with my 'Melbourne Family' helps keep the homesickness at bay and the Christmas Spirit within me alive. I will be forever grateful to the beautiful souls that support my love for all things Yuletide and help me celebrate it at every opportunity with enthusiasm.

I hope this post helps bring a little Christmas Spirit into your day and inspires you to create a Christmas Adventure of your own. What Christmas traditions do you have?
