District North, Moonee Ponds

Review
Melbourne-Cafe-Review

The world needs to know about my favourite local café, District North. This new kid on the block is the perfect addition to the Moonee Ponds/Essendon pocket of Melbourne. The Scandinavian inspired, light filled interior design of the café draws you in with welcoming arms, then the friendly staff scoop you up in a warm bear hug. Ok, well not literally but what I'm trying to say is you will feel welcomed and catered to when you visit District North.

The Mr went for the Four Pillars Gin cured salmon which he said was delicious and would order again but it is on the smaller side in terms of serving, so if you are a big eater either grab some sides to go with it or one of the incredible doughnuts they sell for the road.

Because of my dairy allergy I can very rarely order straight off the menu when I go out. I ended up with The District Standard no rosti or mushrooms, and it was delicious. I don't know how they did it but the smoked tomatoes, OMG.. so good! They had a flavour like a smokey chutney but without all the sugariness. I can't explain it properly so you will just have to go try for yourself.

District North ticks all the boxes for me and I know you will love it too. Give them a try next time you are brunching.
