Perfectly Packed Hand Luggage

What you have remembered to pack in you hand luggage on a long flight can be the difference between an enjoyable experience or not. For me, hand luggage serves two purposes; 1. items I may need or want during the flight, 2. items I may need should my checked baggage goes missing (touch wood). Here is a list of most of the things I like to pack into my hand luggage without looking like a bag-lady!

Because I am a person with food allergies but also a person who gets hangry if i dont eat at regular intervals it is essential I bring some snacks with me. I like easy to grab items like Clif Bars, Date Rolls and if I'm feeling naughty and particularly organised before I travel I'll bring a stack of these cookies with me. A goal I always have when flying is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Make sure you grab a big bottle of water after you pass through security at the airport, drinking caffeine free herbal teas are a good way to get extra fluids in if you are getting bored with plain water and carry some Hydralyte with you for an extra boost (ensure you read the warnings on the package to see if this is suitable for you). Finally pack some pain relief because there is nothing worse than being on a 14 hour flight with a banging headache!
This part of my packing is geared towards staying moisturised and freshening up mid and post flight. Where I can I bring the travel sized versions of the products for space maximisation.
Cosmetic bag with all your  basic everyday makeup items.
Mositurising products.
  • Lip balm, my favourite scent is Coconut & Pear.
To freshen up.
  • Facial mist - this one was recommended to me by a flight attendant friend so it must be good!
  • Sunscreen - so this isn't really to freshen up but when you get to your location the last thing you're going to want to do is be digging through your baggage for sunscreen.
  • Plug adapter for your destination country.
  • USB charger plug (ie. phone charger), most devices these days charge via USB cables so you should be able to charge multiple with one plug.
  • A pen; the amount of times you need to fill in forms or note things down when travelling is more than you think. Best to bring your own pen so you don't have to rely on the kindness of strangers.
  • Passport, dah.
  • A good book to read in case all of the technology fails!
  • Comfy socks to wear on the plane, I hate the ones you get from the airline and definitely dont want to wear shoes for the whole trip.
  • Travel pillow for napping comfort. The Mr. loves this one.
  • Clothing you will need for day 1 of your trip. I'm going to sunny LA so in my bag will be bathers, thongs/flip flops, a summer dress and my sunnies.

What's your must have hand luggage item when travelling?

*I have not been sponsored by any of the brands shown I just really like them :)
